HORNWOOD FELL (Italy)
Vulnera Pt. III
— The Italians are taking the control with versions of metal beyond your decrepit brain. This is abstracted black metal with sound effects and keyboard.
— Speaking of Italy, another version of grind. Super satisfying and surprising.
WORSEN (North Carolina)
Cursed to Witness Life
— Young and In The Way was one of my favorites, and its lead singer started working on his one-man black metal 4 years ago. This is his debut, and it is harmony-driven punch black metal. Shit is good.
Ascending the Mountain of Divinities
— Fucking Aaron Dallison of Keelhaul; this shit was IT. Honey on gravel on toast. Just, yeah.
— Ashbringer stretches out the sound. Take the ride.
— Damn, who knew I would love tech death, but of course this is Italian, so they push it in directions that increase your brain capacity.
BEASTWARS (New Zealand)
Storms of Mars
— Dimensional spacey stoner rock with an impassioned vocalist scratching his way through.
SUPERSTITION (Sante Fe)
— Raw sparse death that has a mullet you can't compete with.
— Dense filthy death from the aggress-iest scene. Australians don't like you
