BARING TEETH
(TX)
Impressions Left Behind
— Swarming, rolling, relentless and
mesmerizing layers creating dynamic and haunting.
6:19-11:00
PORTRAYAL OF GUILT
(TX)
Daymare
— Younguns speak to the horrors of
living. Vocals range from screamo to guttural thick rage. Hardcore
and grind mixes with electronic and other diverse
thoughts.
11:38-18:14
GREENLEAF
(Sweden)
The Rumble and the Weight
— Swedes do psychedelic jamming blues
the best; and Greenleaf has been one of my favorites of these
bands. They changed their incredible singer a few years ago, which
was terrifying to me. But holy shit, they must have sacrificed to
Satan because he is amazing. This is one of their strongest soulful
albums to date.
18:45-26:16
VEILBURNER
(PA)
Glory Glory Grotesque
— I await Veilburner's new album with
much anticipation, as this teaser is as strange and horror-filled,
but blended so well with riffs and groove. Pennsylvania is filled
with vampires.
26:52-29:52
ANCST
(Germany)
Degradation &
Subordination
— Crust is never my favorite, but
Ancst plays with black and groove and melodic so well. The vocalist
drives a stake through the heart.
30:34-36:03
CURSE ETERNAL
(Finland)
I Love Transylvania
— Album art of these Finns is
demonic. A raw sound is rounded out by ragged vocals and melodic
guitar wailing.
36:30-43:36
WITHERFALL (Los
Angeles)
Shadows
— White Wizzard members will always
mean amazing harmonizing, groove and technical prowess. This band
is way more dramatic, if that is possible. The vocalist is stunning
heavy metal.
44:37-50:26
MARCHE FUNÈBRE
(Belgium)
Death Wish Woman
— Gloomy melodic death cloaked with
snarling vomits of vocals.
50:49-56:11
ULTHAR
(Oakland)
Asymmetric Warfare
— Oakland debut offers chompy
speedy-thrash with bloody death and evil black.
56:53-END
DEATHRITE
(Germany)
Appetite for Murder
— Sludge and crust and death is slow
to mid-tempo, mixed with atmosphere. A change for this
band.
